My only brother, Darrell, passed away on December 25, 2021. Two months later, I began writing short stories that can be read in one minute or less. It was writing that saved me from spiraling into a deep depression.  Four months after Darrell passed away, my mom fell and broke her hip in April 2022.  My inspiration for my nonfiction short stories comes from being my 89- and 93-year-old parents' caregiver. These stories document the final years of my parents' lives as their caregiver.
